Personal Chalkboard

Don't worry friends....I'm still here!
Life has gotten in the way of sharing here on the blog but I wanted to pop in and share a simple idea to make for your little one.

Take a plain wood board (purchased from any craft store), give it a good sand then tape off the edge & apply a few coats of chalkboard paint.  (I love Martha Stewart's brand) Let dry & remove tape, then paint outside edge with a fun color.

That's it! This board is perfect for car rides, playing games or quiet drawing time. Have fun with it!

Modern Pastel Art

This art piece is a super simple DIY that if even I can do it- YOU can do it!  I created mine with pastels, according to the #CreativeBuzz theme for this month.

Supplies: Canvas
Paintbrush
Colors of your choice & a neutral shade

Start by randomly dotting your canvas with your paint in small little globs.
(You can always add more, but taking away is harder!)

Starting with your neutral color, spread into your canvas up & down.

Then, go color by color & do the same.
To add to the blending of colors I didn't rinse out my brush in between colors!

Blend blend blend! Once everything is spread, step back and see what color you want more of, layer color on colors, or let dry and come back to add more dimension.

That's it! Really, you can't mess this up because it's kind of supposed to be messy. Isn't that great! So go create a fun spring piece or something you can display in your home all year long!

This project was part of the #CreativeBuzz theme "Pastels" this month. I grouped with some amazing other bloggers who have created some awesome projects with this theme- check them all out & give them so love!

Floral & Glitter Stencil Art DIY

This post is brought to you by Plaid Crafts and Blueprint Social. All images, ideas and opinions are my own.

Here's a fun DIY art project you can customize to any space.  I used my favorite new stencil from Stencil1- some of the coolest modern stencil I have seen!  I also ended up using a glitter paint from FolkArt for this project- both are available at JoAnn's or your local craft store.

Gather your supplies, working with one page at a time, apply your glue to the canvas then push out the air bubbles as you apply your paper. Start in one corner with your stencil (tip: tape it down to keep in place!) Using a brush or sponge stencil, apply your paint (I used a glitter paint), remove your stencil & repeat! Align your stencil again, tape & paint!
Tip: Stencil1 stencils are re-usable & I got the best results with it by washing it every few times as the glitter glue will build up.

Vinyl Polkadot Kitchen

Here's a fun & super easy way to bring a little happiness into your home- in a totally non-permanent way! This is great for renters like me, or those who like to change their decor often.  I grabbed a sheet of vinyl (I got mine from Pick Your Plum), traced a circle, cut them out & applied to the wall!

It was so simple, yet adds a lot of cheeriness to my kitchen wall above my sink!  The EAT letters are spray painted with a metallic nickel finish.
