Felt Ball Monogram

Remember that fun pillow I made for my son's bedroom using Hello Maypole felt balls? I had some left over so obviously I needed to make something else fun.

I grabbed this wood sign at Hobby Lobby, gave it a paint job and sanded down the edges a little.
Be sure to trace and layout the placement before you start gluing your felt balls on.
Adjust as necessary, attach with hot glue and you've got an adorable new sign for your child's room! This wood plaque can with pre-drilled holes for hanging which is awesome.

"Everyday" Shelf Decor

If you saw my post about cleaning with kids in the home, you may have noticed my giant new shelf. I'm in love and obviously change it for every holiday, but I thought I'd share a few pictures of what it's decorated as "non-holiday".  Am I the only one who changes the "regular" after every holiday too? I just can't help it, I love decorating and re-decorating!
Also remember this blanket from the outdoor party?
It's my version of Tell Love Chocolate's Tassel Blanket! I could not get it out of my head when I saw it, so I obviously needed my own! I'm obsessed with it's hot pink goodness.

Felt Ball & Buffalo-Check Pillow

Now that HelloMaypole shared the idea on her instagram I think it's safe to share a few more pictures here!  I was super excited to get chosen to come up with an idea for the Super Hero color way because we practically live, eat & breathe super heroes in this house. (with a side of legos) Using some off-white fabric, I hand painted a messy buffalo check pattern onto the fabric before attaching the felt balls.

Here's a little photo tutorial on how I attached them using baker's twine. Without making a knot, pull the twine outside the pillow and through the ball, then back down in the ball and through the pillow again. Pull, knot & cut. Ta-da!
And guess what's on the other side?!  Obviously I had to, with it being the super hero felt balls!

Dining Room Table Re-Do

I wanted to share some quick pictures of my fairly recently re-painted dining room table & chairs.  It used to have a cream quatrefoil pattern, but after all the moves we made it was a little damaged.  I used the Martha Stewart wood paint in Wedding Cake & Grey Wolf with 2 clear coats on top.  The chairs also got some fun color too! I love them & the best part was it was so easy to do & so it'll be easy to change when I want a new color!

Faux Chalk Paint

Today I'm showing you a way to create a "chalk paint" effect when you don't have any but want a similar finish, using supplies you have on-hand.

Supplies:
Glass containter of your choice
Martha Stewart multi-surface paint
Decoupage finish in MATTE

Start by painting your glass with 2 coats of color & finish with 2 coats of matte finish. (Let dry in between coats!)  Then to add to your chalk effect, gently sand a few areas with sand paper.

Vinyl Polkadot Kitchen

Here's a fun & super easy way to bring a little happiness into your home- in a totally non-permanent way! This is great for renters like me, or those who like to change their decor often.  I grabbed a sheet of vinyl (I got mine from Pick Your Plum), traced a circle, cut them out & applied to the wall!

It was so simple, yet adds a lot of cheeriness to my kitchen wall above my sink!  The EAT letters are spray painted with a metallic nickel finish.
